The primary objective of Jackson County Employee Wellness Program is to offer education, support, and resources in a fun and relaxed atmosphere so that employees may obtain and maintain a healthier, more productive lifestyle that benefits themselves, their families and their community.
The Jackson County Employee Wellness Program, Well @ Work, has a defined activity period to accumulate points - July 1 of each year through early June of the following year.
Eligible participants may earn points through the completion and submission of monthly challenges, quarterly physical activity logs, and wellness opportunity vouchers. The Well @ Work program rewards are conditional rewards based upon participation points earned and funding by Jackson County. Details of wellness opportunities and vouchers, monthly challenges, physical activity logs, and rewards are listed below.

To become an eligible participant, permanent employees must complete and sign both the Participant Release of Liability & Assumption of Risk Agreement and the Participant Terms and Conditions Acknowledgment. Please submit the document via interdepartmental mail to Human Resources.

Send completed Wellness Opportunity Vouchers via interdepartmental mail to Jenifer Pressley at the Cullowhee Recreation Center within 30 days of the program attended and no later than June 8, 2026. Please complete the form in a legible manner to ensure proper credit of points.
Eligible participants earn points through the documented completion of monthly challenges, quarterly physical activities and wellness opportunities in which they participate. Participants are to submit completed point documentation via interdepartmental mail to Jenifer Pressley at the Cullowhee Recreation Center by the deadline indicated on the challenge form, log or voucher.
At the conclusion of the program in June, participants may select either a Monetary Reward or Wellness Leave hours based on the points earned at the completion of the program. The Well @ Work program rewards are conditional rewards based upon participation points earned and funding by Jackson County.
Wellness Leave earned will be credited on July 1 of the next fiscal year and must be used by June 30th, or it will be lost.
Wellness Leave and Monetary Rewards are not paid out at the time of separation from employment and the participant must be actively employee at the time of the reward distribution.
4 Points
$25 monetary reward or 2 hours of wellness leave
5 - 8 Points
$50 monetary reward or 4 hours of wellness leave
9-12 Points
$75 monetary reward or 6 hours of wellness leave
13 + Points
$100 monetary reward or 8 hours of wellness leave
Health Insurance Policy For Users of Nicotine/Tobacco Products
The class normally offered to those that certify or test positive for tobacco is now available as a resource for employees to view online: Virtual Tobacco Cessation Education Class.
After watching the video, please complete the Tobacco Cessation Quiz and send it to Kendra Brown, Human Resources.
Additionally, employees may always make an appointment for Employee Health (828-586-8994) if they wish to speak with a provider (either in person or via telemedicine) regarding assistance with cessation (which could include medication).

Virtual Tobacco Cessation Group Program
The Office of Cancer Health Equity have transitioned their Tobacco Cessation Group Program to a virtual program! The program is free of charge. It is a six week evidence-based program that includes information and discussions themed to subjects such as cravings and triggers, NRT, stress management, nutrition, and more. It is open to any tobacco users, regardless of which type of tobacco they use. They will be surrounded by others also seeking support to quit. Participants will receive free twelve weeks of combination NRT (patches AND lozenges or gum). Participants are encouraged to bring a guest along for support.
