RE:  SCHEDULE OF VALUES FOR 2021


The Jackson County Board of Commissioners will hold a mixed virtual public hearing on a proposed Schedule of Values for the 2021 Reappraisal on October 06, 2020 at 5:50 p.m., Justice & Administration Building, 401 Grindstaff Cove Road, Room A201, Sylva, North Carolina.  The proposed schedules, standards and rules used in appraising real property in Jackson County were presented to the Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 and are available for public inspection in the Jackson County Tax Assessor’s Office or at www.jacksonnc.org/tax-administration/home.

Citizens are invited to make written or oral comments.  Written comments will be accepted by email angiewinchester@jacksonnc.org or directly to the Commissioners.  Please call 828-631-2213 and request to be added to the virtual meeting by video or phone to provide oral comment during the meeting.  You will need to provide an email address to receive the link or a phone number for calling-in to the meeting and specify if you will be making public comment.  You must call to make this request by 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 6th to allow time for the link or number to be sent to you.  You may also access the meeting live via YouTube.  The link is located on the county website at: www.jacksonnc.org under the Government Tab - “Commissioner Meeting Videos”.

Notice of Bond Referendum

Jackson County, North Carolina

$20,000,000 General Obligation Bonds for indoor pool facilities


            By resolution adopted July 10, 2020, the Board of Commissioners of Jackson County, North Carolina, fixed November 3, 2020, as the date for a bond referendum in Jackson County.  The referendum will be held on the question of whether the order authorizing up to $20,000,000 of general obligation bonds of Jackson County, for the purpose of paying capital costs of indoor pool facilities and paying related costs, as adopted by the County's Board of Commissioners on July 10, 2020, shall be approved.

            The maximum amount of bonds proposed to be issued is $20,000,000. The purpose of the bonds is to provide funds, to be used together with other available funds, to pay capital costs of providing indoor pool facilities, together with related financing and other necessary or incidental costs. Taxes will be levied in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds so issued. 

            The last day to register to vote in the referendum under the election laws now in effect is Friday, October 9, 2020.
