Jackson County Transit is a fully coordinated, public transportation system and operates as a branch of Jackson County Government. Jackson County Transit provides transportation for human service agencies, the elderly, people with disabilities, and the general public of Jackson County. It offers deviated fixed routes, paratransit service, and a demand response service between 7:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. Requests for service must be made before 2:00pm prior to the scheduled trip except for the Jackson Trolley which operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm. This is a deviated fixed service that includes 11 fixed bus stops along the route. Limited service is available to Asheville, Waynesville, Franklin and Bryson City.

      Asheville Airport: $25.00
    • Rates are subject to change.
    • Daily and weekly scheduled service is provided to the elderly, people with disabilities, and the general public for several different needs. Jackson County Transit provides home pick-up and delivery to and from destinations for the following:
  • Shopping
  • Banking
  • Paying utility bills
  • Recreational activities
  • Local nutrition program
  • Various Golden Age Center activities
  • School attendance (SCC and WCU)
  • Medical, therapy appointments, and medical treatment, to the following locations:
  • Harris Regional Hospital - Sylva 
  • Sylva Dialysis - Sylva
  • Mountain Regional Cancer Center - Sylva
  • Veterans Hospital - Asheville/Franklin
  • Memorial Mission Hospitals - Asheville
  • Others needs are handled on a demand/response basis.
  • Lift-Equipped vans are available for people with disabilities.
  • All transportation covered by Medicaid must be scheduled through the Jackson County Department of Social Services. Contact the Transit Office for more information.
  • The Youth of Jackson County are provided transportation to and from Daycare and HeadStart program centers. These services may be arranged by Southwestern Child Development and the HeadStart Program, through Mountain Projects. For more information, contact the Transit Office.

    The Jackson Trolly is a deviated fixed route serving the Sylva-Dillsboro-Webster areas, operating Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 5:00pm. The following scheduled times, are approximate and you should be at the stop early.  These times begin at the top of each hour.

    Fares are $1.00 per boarding, per person. A booklet of 20 tickets may be purchased for $15.00, (1 ticket = 1 boarding), or a monthly pass may be purchased for $20.00 which may be used for an unlimited number of boarding’s during a month period.
